Event Description

The Registered Apprenticeship Advantage
Please join us for a webinar to discuss how you can get involved with WIA’s registered apprenticeship program known as TIRAP – The Telecommunications Industry Registered Apprenticeship Program. This webinar will share all you need to know about how to get involved, including how to register as a TIRAP participating employer.

As a recognized Industry Intermediary by the US Department of Labor, WIA is your advocate and partner. We provide industry and occupation specific expertise, help coordinate partner responsibilities, and assist with the administrative details of the program. Our goal is to speed up your adoption of apprenticeship, reduce your investment of time and resources, and ensure training meets your needs for a qualified workforce.

A Partnership that Works: Pre-Apprenticeship Training
The webinar also features Corning offering a comprehensive overview of their Fiber IQ/Corning Fiber Broadband Technician course. This five-day entry level course is designed for people with little to no experience in the field of fiber handling and splicing. The course covers a spectrum of essential skills including network design, splicing, field construction for cable deployment, and system turn-up are taught with extensive hands-on practice, including a full system build with testing and trouble shooting. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be well equipped for entry level roles with carriers, construction firms, and broadband providers. Aligned with the WIA/TIRAP Fiber Optic Technician apprenticeship, this course not only imparts valuable skills but also satisfies the related training instruction for apprenticeship requirements.
