This module covers the labor standards for the registration of apprenticeship programs as outlined in 29 CFR Part 29.5. It explains the Apprenticeship Standards outlined in the Federal regulations and identifies resources available to help develop Registered Apprenticeship Standards.

This course summarizes the Office of Apprenticeship’s (OA’s) Circular 2026-01, Registered Apprenticeship Training Approaches, which offers guidance for designing Registered Apprenticeship programs using competency-based, time-based, or hybrid training approaches. 

This module outlines updated guidance to State Apprenticeship Councils (SACs) in OA Circular 2026-02, Roles and Functions of State Apprenticeship Agencies and State Apprenticeship Councils. The module also describes the roles and responsibilities of State Apprenticeship Agencies (SAAs) as stipulated by 29 CFR 29.13.   

Quality customer service is critical to expanding Registered Apprenticeship and reaching related goals. This course explores important concepts in customer service, and how DOL-funded investment partners can collaborate with Registration Agency staff to ensure the smooth implementation of Registered Apprenticeship programs. This course also offers practical tips for managing competing priorities and provides opportunities to apply the information to realistic customer scenarios.

This course explores important concepts in customer service, and has leaders from Registration Agencies provide their perspectives on how to best support Registered Apprenticeship customers. It includes practical tips for managing competing priorities and opportunities to apply course information to realistic customer scenarios.

This module provides strategies for success for apprentices beginning their Registered Apprenticeship programs. Topics include being your personal best, working as a team player, and representing your company as a champion.

The Eligible Training Provider List, or ETPL, is a statewide repository of training providers eligible to receive WIOA Title I funding to support occupational skills training. Registered Apprenticeship program sponsors are automatically eligible for inclusion on this list, which allows local workforce to fund the related instruction component of a Registered Apprenticeship program. This module explores why ETPL inclusion is important and how sponsors can participate.

This module introduces how mentorship is essential to Registered Apprenticeship programs. Best practices for selecting, training, and supporting mentors are included to support program sponsors and participating employers.

WIOA-funded service providers should not be hesitant about supporting longer-term Registered Apprenticeship programs due to perceptions of negative outcomes associated with the WIOA Credential Attainment Rate (CAR). This module addresses interim credentials and industry-recognized credentials that count positively towards the CAR. 

This course will educate vocational-technical instructors and subject matter experts on adult learning principles and styles, the role and expectations of an instructor, effective training strategies in various environments, and instructional promising practices.
