Apprenticeship Training at College of Micronesia-FSM

Pohnpei Utilities Corporation (PUC) On March 25 this year marks the third-year of the registered apprenticeship program training through the collaboration of COM-FSM, Pohnpei Utilities Corporation, and the US Department of Labor (USDOL) Office of Apprenticeship. This four-year term training started on March 2022 and expected to be completed in March 2026. Upon successful completion of the program, each apprentice will be awarded with a Journeyman Certificate in the occupation entitled Electrician. Additionally, each apprentice will be also awarded with a Certificate of Achievement in Construction Electricity from COM-FSM. Ten apprentices, who are current employees of PUC, were registered into the program. Two of the ten apprentices have completed the related training instructions to obtain their Certificate of Achievement from COM-FSM and one of them has successfully completed the required on-the-job training (OJT) to obtain a Journeyman Certificate.
