Washington University apprentices learn medical assisting while on the job

Apprentices are working at Washington University (WU) centers as medical assistants. Apprentices work four and a half days a week in a medical office, checking patients in, taking vital signs, updating charts and learning alongside doctors, nurses and other health professionals. The apprentices pay no tuition and receive a salary and benefits from WU, as well as a pay raise following the completion of a 12-week class.
