Event Description

Apprenticeship is a proven education and employment strategy that helps address many of the systemic challenges that prevent students from completing postsecondary education and securing good jobs. Community colleges are particularly well-positioned to expand apprenticeship beyond traditional sectors like the construction trades, creating affordable and equitable pathways into careers in healthcare, information technology, business services, and more. Recognizing both a need and an opportunity, community colleges across the U.S. are increasingly stepping into an “intermediary” role, working directly with employers and other regional partners to build and coordinate local apprenticeship programs, while also providing related coursework for apprentices. Event participants will learn how community colleges develop, design, and administer high-quality apprenticeship programs, as well as the structures and strategies that support their sustainability as intermediaries.
