Event Description

National Apprenticeship Week in Chicagoland, led by Developing Our Youth (DOY) and the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC), is designed to open doors for young people and expose them to promising careers in the skilled trades. Through a blend of school visits, program tours, and an apprenticeship fair, this initiative aims to educate, inspire, and connect students to hands-on, well-paying career paths, especially within minority and underserved communities. With a pressing need for skilled labor across Chicagoland, National Apprenticeship Week brings trades to the forefront, offering students direct access to the resources and mentors that can help them enter this thriving field. Throughout the week, Developing Our Youth and the National Association of Minority Contractors will be visiting four local high schools and four apprenticeship programs. These events are designed to increase student awareness of skilled trades as a meaningful and accessible career option.
