Chicago Women in Trades

Organization:Chicago Women in Trades

Benefit:Industry Allyship

Recognizing the lack of women represented and supported in the trades professions, Chicago Women in Trades, Nontraditional Employment for Women, and Oregon Tradeswomen Inc. formed a network and support system to advocate for access to opportunities for women in the trades. In addition to this effort, it became apparent that these organizations needed to take a more active role in developing programs specifically for women to train with. The three organizations came together to create programs that actively focused on the advancement of tradeswomen in male-dominated fields. Together, the efforts of Chicago Women in Trades, Nontraditional Employment for Women, and Oregon Tradeswomen Inc. have enabled several generations of skilled tradeswomen to excel in apprenticeships and jobs within the trades community
