How Registered Apprenticeships Can Address Teacher Workforce Challenges

The session will include a conversation between Virginia's Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jenna Conway and Virginia's Commissioner of Workforce Development and Advancement, Nicole Overley on how school divisions and educator preparation programs can intentionally design programs to recruit local talent, meet regional workforce needs, and address persistent staffing shortages in the teaching field through teacher apprenticeship programs. The conversation will be facilitated by Dr. Carla Warren, Senior Partner, from the National Center for Grow Your Own. Participants will leave with concrete ideas for building sustainable, community‑driven educator pipelines that strengthen the profession and improve student learning statewide.
