    Description

    ​Commercial Fishing Apprenticeship Program (CFAP) is a crew training program designed and offered by the East Farm Commercial Fisheries Center of Rhode Island, in cooperation with the University of Rhode Island, commercial fishermen, and the supporting shoreside businesses of Point Judith. The 2026 Program will begin on May 26th and end late June 2026. After the initial training, apprentices will be given opportunities to work as crew members on RI vessels to begin on-the-job learning.

    The Mobile Field Trip is a FREE experience that brings a 44-foot trailer right to your school so students have the opportunity to see what a career as a carpenter or millwright could look like.     This training session will offer sponsors the time and space to understand the RAPIDS system related to their registered apprenticeship administrative responsibilities. We will be reviewing RAPIDS screens from the program sponsor lenses, discussing how to generate reports that can assist with program administration, tips for registering apprentices, and ways for programs to review RAPIDS data specific to their program to support programs internal controls. Programs are encouraged to ask questions and network with other programs that have similar roles and responsibilities.
