Four separate Youth Apprenticeship Agreements were signed between area businesses and Caroline County Public School students during the month of March.
Brallen Phelps, a senior at North Caroline High School, was a summer employee for Ron Schock with RH Perkinsons, a plumbing contractor in Chester, Maryland. Mr. Schock wanted to keep this promising employee and formalized the relationship through the Apprenticeship Program. Brallen completed the Construction Carpentry program at Caroline Career & Technology Center (CCTC), and is expanding on that experience by exploring the field of plumbing.
Katrina Benges, a junior at North Caroline High School, is now an Apprentice in Early Childhood teaching with Mid Shore Early Learning Center in Easton. Katrina is enrolled in a program at Chesapeake College, and upon completion, will earn her Center Based Birth to Five Child Development Associates.
Crystal Steel, a fabrication plant in Federalsburg, recently signed on two new welder-fabricator apprentices, Vaughn Jones and Kailey Masten, both seniors at Colonel Richardson High School. Plant Supervisor Jeff Keith is a passionate advocate for work education, and enthusiastic about new apprenticeships. After a tour, interview and weld Test, Vaughn and Kailey emerged as the top candidates.
