Apprenticeship Tour of MT State Prison

Apprenticeship state director, ATR, and workforce integration specialist along with the MT DLI Office of Reentry supervisor toured the MT State Prison industry shops with Montana Correctional Enterprises. Tour included wood shop, automotive, welding, print, industrial sewing and food service. Many of these shops have pre-apprenticeship programs within. Montana RAP is working with Department of Corrections to review and overhaul pre-apprenticeship programs, and it was impressive and eye-opening to see the facilities and speak with some of the actual pre-apprentices participating in these programs, and will lead to strong, inter-departmental partnerships and ideal employment outcomes.
