Each May, local SkillsUSA chapters are encouraged to host a National Signing Day event and invite industry partners, administrators, teachers, elected officials, SkillsUSA alumni, family and friends to honor students as they sign letters of intent for a job offer, apprenticeship or advanced technical training. Calvert County Public Schools is proud to recognize its 2023-2024 academic year youth who are committing to either Registered Apprenticeship, military service, or public or private sector employment.

    On Friday, April 26th, USDOL offers its annual “Kids Day” program for 2024. During Kids Day @ DOL, employees are encouraged to have their children shadow them, where possible, and talk to them about their work and the impact being made for workers across the country. It’s a great chance to talk about our collective contributions to the DOL mission, your team, and the importance of listening to each other and working together in the workplace. For this year, OA was able to arrange for two union-based Registered Apprenticeship programs – the Finishing Trades Institute of MD/DC/VA (International Union of Painters and Allied Trades) and the Ironworkers, Local 5 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Program, to attend and participate. Virtual/Reality (V/R) paint sprayers and V/R welding sets.
